Cancellation & Refund Policy

1. Free trial

New customers may receive a 7-day free trial. You are not charged during the trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged. If you do not cancel, your paid subscription begins automatically when the trial ends and your payment method is charged.

2. How to cancel

You can cancel at any time from your account settings within the application. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, you keep access until then and you will not be charged again.

3. Refunds

Subscription fees are billed in advance for each monthly period and are, in general, non-refundable. When you cancel, you keep access for the remainder of the period you have already paid for; we do not provide partial or pro-rata refunds for unused time.

We may issue a refund at our discretion, for example where:

• You were charged in error or charged twice for the same period;
• A prolonged service outage prevented you from using the Service;
• A refund is required under South African consumer law.

To request a refund, contact us within 14 days of the charge at enquiries@thesecretsvault.com with your account email and the transaction details. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method via PayFast.

4. Plan changes

Upgrading your storage plan takes effect immediately. Downgrading takes effect at your next billing cycle and requires your current storage usage to be within the smaller plan's limit. Free up space first if needed. We do not refund the difference when you downgrade.

5. What happens to your data

After you cancel, we retain your encrypted account data for twelve months in case you decide to return, then permanently delete it. You can request immediate deletion at any time from within the application. Because of our zero-knowledge design, deleted vault data cannot be recovered.
